You can return to work the very next day on light restrictive duties, and need to avoid physical, exertional activities for a week.  Dr Ayush recommends at least taking 2 days off work so that you can recover from the surgery

If your work involves any kind of physical exertion, you will need to take the week off work. Please ask for a medical certificate during your consultation, if required.

Day 1-2

  • You should drive yourself straight back to home after the surgery, and rest for the remainder of the day.
  • Minimise any kind of activity.
  • do not lift anything over 2kg
  • walk and stand for up to 10 -15 minutes at a time only
  • you can walk up and down the stairs
  • take 10 to 15-minute rest breaks

Days 3-7

  • you can increase walking and standing by 30 minutes each day.
  • take 10 to 15-minute rest breaks
  • do not drive more than 30 minutes at a time
  • no ejaculation/sexual intercourse yet
  • no physical work yet

Week 2

  • you can have sexual intercourse
  • you can walk and stand all day
  • you can lift 10-15kgs carefully as tolerated
  • you can train your upper body in the gym while seated

Week 3

  • you can play sports like running, swimming, cycling on a stationary bike (in a gym)
  • you can lift up to 20 kg as tolerated
  • you can cycle on the road

Week 4

  • you can play contact sports like football, rugby, cricket, martial arts
  • you can train in the gym without any restrictions
  • you can do mountain biking
