The pre-procedure consultation takes about 15 minutes, and is an important opportunity to discuss the procedure, ask any questions, raise your concerns, and resolve any lingering uncertainties with the doctor before the surgery. Your partner is welcome to attend this session with you if you want her to. Patients should be comfortable and informed about their final decision.
It also allows us to review your medical and surgical history. Conditions such as diabetes, hernia, any swelling in the scrotum or any past scrotal surgeries are important to know prior to a vasectomy.
Part of the consultation will include a physical examination to make sure that there are no anatomic considerations that could interfere with the procedure
It will also give you the chance to meet the doctor who is performing this life- changing surgery, and whether you are comfortable and can put your trust on him.
Many men feel very well- informed about the procedure and possible complications. You have the option to book a special ‘one-day vasectomy’ appointment if you want the consultation and the procedure on the same day.
